“Bringing home the bacon” is a traditionally male assignment. In other words, when we imagine a breadwinner, or the “head of household” most will visualize a man. But in reality, the primary breadwinner is female in more than half of all households. Tonight we spoke about how this affects relationships and what we can do about it.
Our first guest was Susan Shapiro Barash. She’s an established writer on nonfiction women’s issues and author of several books, including her latest: The Nine Phases of Marriage: How to Make It, Break It, Keep It. She also teaches gender studies at Marymount Manhattan College.
